Chapter Nine

Manifest Your Desires Effortlessly

If we are filled with doubt and lack surety our efforts at determining our own destiny will crumble. If our intention is uncertain, then our mind is divided and that which we are trying to build cannot stand.

“And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.

No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.”

Each of you is the Kingdom. The way you think, act and view the world is your kingdom. It is your reality and for better or worse, you have created it. If your thoughts are divided and you perceive any attempt at altering your life with skepticism, your mental house will collapse. If Satan, or more truthfully temptation convinces you to buy into appearances, sends you mixed messages about the probability of actually altering your life, your thought process will not stand and your effort will come to an end.

Appearances are deceiving and when we give in to appearance and illusion, we see pain, suffering and lack. These things are real, but they are not “actual.” Our fundamental state of energy suffers no pain and lacks for nothing. When we take that energy and form it into a picture that is not pleasing, we have only altered appearance, we have not altered the basic nature of energy.

The strong man is the appearance. We have put our faith and trust into our five senses and yet science will tell you they are very deceiving. Things in a distance look small, and yet they are not. We hear only a very minor band of tones. We see but a fraction of the light waves that engulf our being. Our taste can be fooled by smell and our touch is altered by our perceptions. Despite all of this, we are told that “seeing is believing.” The mystics would say, “What we believe is what we see” or “As above in consciousness, so below in matter.” (See https://www.michaelsharp.org).

So the strong man or the world of illusion impinges upon our ability to see the truth. This strong man may bind our thoughts to these appearances and if we accept the illusion as truth, he will destroy our house. This strong man is not some sentient being that we have all demonized in order to justify our lack of willingness to take responsibility for our lives. The senses are wonderful things when we use them with understanding and knowledge, but they do not tell the entire picture.
