Author Submissions

If you are the author of a book you would like to see published on PsiTek, here is what you need to know...

1. We make no charge to you to have your work published. As long as you provide your text in a Microsoft Word compatible format, we will handle all the formatting, web-page layouts, book cover graphics, search engine optimization, and web hosting of your book.

2. The copyright on the book always remains yours. Obviously you must either be the author of the book you want published or else provide us with proof that you hold the copyright to it. We will make clear on the contents page of the book, that we are publishing the book with your permission and that you are the copyright holder. You can see examples of what we mean here and here.

3. Unless you wish your work to be anonymous, we will place a link on the contents page of the book directly to your website. We believe that it is only fair that if you are publishing your work freely on our website then, in return, we should provide interested readers with a means of finding out more about you. You can see examples of what we mean here and here.

4. We will not pay you for your work. Sorry, but if you are looking for a way to directly make money out of your work, you need to find another way to distribute it or sell it. We are happy to provide you with a huge on-going stream of website readers for your book and also for your website, but we do it freely. And if you wish to use our services, you must do it freely too.

Obviously, if we are sending an ongoing stream of interested readers to your own website, you may decide to use that opportunity to introduce them to your other works or products - that's entirely up to you.

To help you gauge how many potential readers/customers we can send you, here are our current Quantcast-verified website traffic stats (updated daily - may not be visible if you are reading this on a smartphone):

5. We operate on a trust basis. We don't deal with signed formal written legal agreements; we deal in trust. PsiTek has been online in name since 2002 and has been online in other forms since the mid-1990s. We have built up a considerable reputation for honesty and trust in that time both from our readers and from those who have published their own works with us in the past. We will always do the best we can to ensure your work is treated respectfully and reaches as wide an audience as possible.

6. We don't provide free advertising. Often, internet marketers write short books as a form of veiled advertising. Sorry, we don't publish those kinds of works on PsiTek. We provide you with a link to your website on the contents page of the book (as mentioned above) but that's as far as advertising goes. Yes, we have (non-intrusive) adverts on most of our book pages but this small concession is necessary to help finance our website and production costs - we don't allow advertising in the books themselves.

7. Your book must not already be published as web pages. If your book is already published as web pages then it's a waste of time for us to duplicate that work. It is not our intent to spam the search engines. We provide this service to help you get readers for your work and since PsiTek is already well-indexed by the major internet search engines, you will find it valuable to have your work permanently and uniquely hosted here. If you only have your book published already in another non-web format, say in PDF format, and not as existing web pages then that's fine with us.

It's also no problem if you have already published your book in a physical form. If it's being sold through Amazon, we will put a link at the top of every book web page directly to your Amazon sales page so that people who want to buy a physical copy of it can easily do so.

8. Your book must be clearly related to self-improvement, spirituality, mind power or similar subjects. Yes, it's obvious but we thought we would say it anyway. You'll get an idea of the kinds of books we publish from the ones that are already there. If you are not sure whether a book would be suitable, contact us anyway and we'll let you know what we think.

9. Your book must be provided in a Microsoft Word compatible format. At present, we can only accept submitted books in an electronic format that can be opened with Microsoft Word. Just send us the book by email and we'll deal with the rest.

10. You must agree to have your book published freely online here for at least one calendar year. It takes us time and effort to publish your book here and it costs us money to host it here for you for free and then notify the many thousands of our mailing list subscribers about it. So it wouldn't be fair to us for you to suddenly change your mind after your book is published and ask for it to be removed. We think leaving it online here for at least one calendar year for our website visitors to read is a fair trade for our efforts.
